Clinical Training & Therapy Style

My clinical training began with a Master of Social Work, with a clinical concentration, from the University of Georgia.  Over a decade later I completed a Master of Christian Thought at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC.

I am comprehensively trained in DBT (a research-based therapy for managing intense emotions) and comprehensively trained and Certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

My therapy style includes these three primary components:  education, coaching  and support.  I provide lots of psychoeducation & teach skills that are practiced both in sessions as well as out of sessions.  Undergirding this is providing you a safe and supportive space where these things can take root and relationships can grow.

My demeanor is warm, engaging and energetic. I am creative and adapt therapy to work with the personality styles of each client.  I often give post-session tasks to help accelerate your progress.
